Spinach Whore

I think I'm a Spinach Whore.  No lie I've had a bowl a day for the last week or so.  Yesterday it was on Pizza!  The day before in a wrap.  Today I consumed by body weight in spinach with saughted portabello, onions, and yellow pepper on top.  Veggies beware, I'm coming to EAT you.  I also baked cookies (see scary picture of me holding up a few above).  We only had half the butter so I thought, why not and used whole wheat flower and an extra cup (Wow Nelly) of oatmeal.  Don't tell C and S they always say I try to make cookies healthy.

On the running front, I knocked out about 7 miles today and did 10 yesterday!  I also lifted today a little.  I really would like to build up a little muscle mass. . .  Well, it's 8:00 and I have no plans for the evening.  I should start homework, but nope not going to.  I might go for a walk (just sounds good).  Who know, the evening is an open book

I had a bad day . . .

Gross, I just had a bad day.  I think it all started when I panicked and realized I was waisting the day away at my computer :(  So I came home all freaked out about summer and life. . .  My Mom talked to me for a while and we put a plan together.  I am hired part time, so if things start to get dull and I run out of things to do, I leave!  No waisting the day away, it's summer.  I also wasn't feeling very good but thanks to two little pills and two workouts mixed in with a light dinner, I'm good.  I did another 8 mile run ( I did 8 yesterday).  Tomorrow I'll mix things up and add in a 10!  I also did Yoga on Monday.  It felt so Good to stretch out my body.  My plan is to get up at 6 and do Yoga before work tomorrow.  I lifted/strengthened today so that also felt good.  I think I'll keep trying to switch between the two!

I'll give you an idea of my food intake today, it looked good, but I didn't feel good (could be from Monday food), so I'll try again tomorrow

Smoothie as I ran out the door
Banana
three strawberries
3/4 cup milk
drizzle honey (isn't it awesome how much sweeter honey is than sugar)

Lunch
Whole Grain Wrap
1.5 tbs red pepper hummus
handful spinach

Cottage Cheese
Apple

Dinner
2 eggs
Great harvest whole grain bread 1.5 slices
Spinach salad ( I LOVE SPINACH)

Actually that is about it.  Please remember I felt sick all day so food intake was a little low.

I'll let you know as I go along what I'm eating just cause that is part of my blog!

cheerleader, 16 mile runs, wine, and long bike conversations

Its Nate!  He ran an 11:30 (yikes that is really slow for him) on Friday at his sectional track meet

Hello,

Happy extra Monday!  I've had a nice weekend.  My Mom and Dad went to see Connor so it's been nice around the house.  We've (Nate and I) just kind of done our own thing!  I ran 6 miles at 6 on Friday and 16 on Saturday.  So I actually topped my week out at 60 miles.  So today I decided I'd call Michael, a friend of mine who is only in town for a few days, and see if he wanted to go biking.  I'm sure we biked at least 22 miles. . .  it was still nice to take a day off from running.

I had my first glass of wine last night.  Kritter and I decided to be classy and have wine.  We each only drank about a glass while we discussed life.  I'm sad Kritter is leaving for camp.  The little exposure I've had with my other friends (minus Michael) reminds me why I like leaving for school in the Fall.  Same with my Mom right now.  I cleaned up the house, stocked the fridge, and did laundry this weekend, yet got no thanks.  My Parents are so used to me doing stuff like that, but it wouldn't hurt to say thanks.  Oh well

I have a copy of Mens Health (yeah I know but I have three brothers) to read before I hit the hay.  Maybe I'll learn maybe  I won't

Make fun of me all you want, I'm going to bed

Yes, in case you were wondering I do plan on being in bed before 10:00.  My allergies are making my head HURT, so why not go to bed.  Oh dear!  I did get a run and bike in today.  I tried to do my mile repeats (wednesday workout) but didn't get the times I wanted due to the ache of my head.  I wanted to be under 7:30 for each of the three.  The first was about 7:15, then a 7:30 and by the last I was struggling and hit a 7:45.  I ran about 9 miles all together (warmed up three and cooled down three).  PLUS I biked to the park and then biked the long way home.  What can I say, I could breathe a little better when I was moving.  As for what I ate today, not so great.  I'm glad I'm starting work so I have a schedule.

In other running news.  My Mom's cousin ran the Chicago marathon (first and only) last fall.  He has a GPS watch and told my Mom all about it.  Apparently she think it sounds really cool, so I now know what I'll be getting for Christmas.  I then spent way to much time on Runners world looking at different watches.

I've decided my first running purchase of the summer will be a camelback.  YEAH!  My plan is to hit up Chambana on Saturday and get my groceries (yes separate from my families, but hey I got to have spinach, hummus, bananas, strawberries, and whole grain wraps).  I've also really been wanting to try Pita Pit a "fast food" pita place.  Then I'll hit up Champaign Surplus (Camelback), Dicks (price check), and maybe body and sole.  I want to hit TJ Max while I'm in town to see if they have any nice sports bras (I check EVERY time I go).

First off I thought I'd share my view!  I'm moved back into my room and looking out my window to the sheep field.  Oh the peace of being at home

Isn't it nice!  I got my desk all set up and I'm ready to start working on my homework, but of course I decided to blog first :)

Oh well.  My Mom decided to bike while I ran today, which was nice.  Do to allergies (yuck) my heart rate was out of this world.  My body was fighting to breathe a little so my heart rate stayed above 160 easily.  Although that is the goal, I don't think my pace was that fast.  I got in about 8.5 miles (thanks map my run).  I want to do some push ups and abs before I hit the hay tonight, but that means I have to get my homework done!  Anyway. . .  I have a meeting at my office for my summer job at 8:00.  I think I'll hit up the library to get a Light summer book and then go do some time repeats! Any ideas for a good light (silly please) book to start out my summer?  I really need to dive into "The Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan, but I think I still need a silly book before I take up a serious book.

Before I head out I want to post a picture of my Girls on the Run team!

HEY HEY HEY

Hi  Welcome to my Summer blog.

Want to know why I'm doing this?  I really want to have a PRODUCTIVE summer, but also want to keep up with everyone.  I feel like a blog is a cool and easy way to let you know what I'm doing and is a little more personal than facebook.  I'll try to post at least three times a week, but may end up posting more!  I can upload pictures and more!  SO check back for more soon!
